Digital Identities Redefined
Secure, Efficient, Verifiable Digital Identities brought to you by CertLei
CertLei harnesses vLEI (Verifiable Legal Entity Identifier) technology to facilitate digital identity and data verification in Hong Kong and throughout the Greater Bay Area (GBA). As one of Asia's most economically vibrant regions, the GBA encompasses three distinct legal, economic, and customs systems. CertLei's innovative solutions bridge these gaps, enabling trusted and efficient cross-border data flows that can be scaled globally for enhanced data interoperability.
The Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) is implemented by the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) which was set up in 2014 by the Financial Stability Board (FSB) under the support of G20.
The LEI is a 20-character alphanumeric code created using ISO 17442:2012 standard, and every eligible legal entity can be assigned a unique identity code for use globally.
To meet the global need for automated authentication and verification of legal entities, GLEIF pioneered the Verifiable Legal Entity Identifier (vLEI), the cryptographic form of the LEI. It allows a distribution of credentials within the modern digital ecosystem that allows
organizations to digitally validate and bind their personnel to official organizational roles.
vLEI combines the two concepts of self-sovereign identities (SSI) and verifiable credentials (VC). SSIs allow vLEI holders to own,
control and share their own digital identities without relying on a centralized authority, while VCs confirm that the authenticity
of that information is true, authentic and unchanged. Together they form a trust system where digital identities are both unique and verifiable.
Digitally trustworthy version of the 20-digit LEI code for the organization which is automatically verified, without the need for human intervention.
The OOR Credential links specific official roles to individuals in organization e.g. CEO, Director. It provides a verifiable digital attestation of an individual’s association with an organization.
Flexible approach to define custom roles based on specific business contexts or engagements.
Digital identities can be tailored based on specific interactions, ensuring clarity and trust in diverse business scenarios.
Self-Certifying No reliance on a third party
Independently Administered OOR/ECR credential controlled by organization
Elevated Level of SecurityDecentralized key system
Regulatory AssuranceAutonomic identifiers need not be publicly shared or stored in an organization’s database
ScalabilityAccounts for the combined computing capacity of all participants as opposed to central system
Partnering with local universities to simplify cross-border verification of academic credentials, streamlining the entry application process for Mainland Chinese students.
Application of digital identity and vLEI for medical data integration to enhance interoperability and credential management across the GBA.
